The partnership between Bethlehem, PA. UNITED
STATES, and Murska Sobota, Slovenia, EUROPE, is the result of
many years of continued friendly relationship between the
Slovenian-Americans in Bethlehem, most of whose ancestors came
from Slovenia's Murska Sobota Prekmurj(Prake-MOOR-ya) area,
and relatives and friends still living in Slovenia. |

It is with great pride that we maintain an active
cultural partnership with our brothers and sisters in
Murska-Sobota, Slovenia. From what began ten years ago as a
dream of Stefan Antalics, our founder, and has now grown to a
sister city membership approaching 200 members from all over the
world BMSSCA is active in many ways. From the Student Exchange
Project, to the Book Purchase Program to send needed texts of
interest to Slovenian students, to Slovenia Heritage Day
celebrations in Bethlehem, PA., to assisting Bethlehem's Banana
Factory ArtsQuest Program in the discovery and recognition of
various Slovenian cultural contributions to people in America,
and others, the BMSSCA continues to explore ways to enlighten
those seeking connections to their Slovenian heritage. |
